The wheels on the bus go round and round
Overheard on the #11 bus from downtown Minneapolis to the northern suburbs. One speaker is a poised, heavyset woman in a short, short, short miniskirt and a tight black sweater. She has a mane of well-groomed curls lacquered under a headband. The bus driver is a middle-aged man, a standard-issue trooper of the MTC.
Passenger: Where does this bus go?
Driver: Where do you want to go?
Passenger: I want to go to the end of the line.
Driver: Well, I go all the way to Columbia Heights.
Passenger: Sounds good to me.
The woman in the short skirt pays her fare gamely and climbs onboard for the ride. --Stephanie Curtis, as told to Michael Tortorello
