Elizabeth Dickinson enters St. Paul mayoral race

Categories: General Archive

Rumors have circulated for weeks that another legitimate contestant will enter the St. Paul mayor's race. Tomorrow morning long-time Green Party activist Elizabeth Dickinson will officially announce her candidacy. Dickinson made a surprisingly strong run to win the Ward Two city council seat in 2003. She was narrowly eliminated during the primary campaign. (I wrote about her candidacy here.)

Since then she's worked as Minnesota AIDS Project's community affairs manager, lobbying at the Capitol on issues such as comprehensive safe-sex education and HIV-prevention. Her candidacy will undoubtedly complicate matters for former city council member Chris Coleman, the chief challenger to incumbent Randy Kelly.
