Whether you're livid about Karl Rove's perfidy or frightened by the findings of the terror investigation in London, you surely couldn't come across a less important piece of news this morning than the royal succession of the House of Grimaldi. PARIS, July 12 - With all the pomp and splendor befitting a very rich man ruling 6,000 people on a seafront outcropping of rock, Prince Albert II of Monaco on Tuesday assumed the throne left vacant in April by the death of his father, Prince Rainier III.

In other Monegasque headlines, Prince Albert acknowledged paternity of a child born from a tryst with a former Togolese air hostess.
