The C.D. Hylton High School marching band had decided to play "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" for their guest appearance at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta, until one newspaper letter writer made the band director pull the song, getting him in trouble with Charlie Daniels.

A Wal-Mart employee in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, called the police when a senior civics student brought film of their Bill of Rights assignment to the photo department. The collage in the photographs featured President Bush and illustrated the student's right to dissent. It also led to a chat between the chair of the social studies department and the Secret Service.
