How about 10 Million dollars per year in MN state income tax from the players (Twins and opposition)park.

Speaking of taxes, I heard the Iraq War costs $177 million a day. This ball park's cost would be $522 million ($392 million by public funding).
In fairness, I realize the war is being paid for by all willing & unwilling Americans and the ball park would just be covered by willing & unwilling Hennepin county taxpayers.
Anyway, I would glady sacrifice 3 days of war in Iraq for a new Twins ball park. Plus, it'll keep me off welfare so it's a win-win.
Most of the people that complain about this stadium, probably don't remember the North Stars situation, and the Met Center. Best thing we did was build this stadium. I can just see it now, if the Twins didn't get their stadium. Five or ten years after they moved, we would be building a brand new stadium for a new team. All the history lost for what?
Baseball keeps a lot of kids out of trouble, which in the future, keeps them from sucking up our tax dollars when they are all older and on welfare. So go on and complain where the tax money is going, but I would rather put it into a family fun sport, with a team that has history. Not some new team that would come here few years later.
... I do like Park Nicollet
and what about something like Fans Field? Not gonna happen, but I like it. :)

"How do you know Paul Wellstone wouldn't have supported cheap entertainment for the masses? Speak for the dead much?"
Ryan,
I don't and I didn't say he wouldn't support cheap entertainment for the massess. I think he might have even supported a public funded Twins stadium, too.

I've posted this elsewhere, but will do it here as well:
Betty Crocker Park
People who like the park will be pleased with the family-friendly overtones and the opportunities for creative cross-marketing. Those who continue to think that pro sports needs to attract more non-sports-watching women to remain socially viable will be glad that this name will - at least in theory - support their position.
And people who don't like the park can call it 'The Crock'.
How do you know Paul Wellstone wouldn't have supported cheap entertainment for the masses? Speak for the dead much?

Since we are retiring the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, we should continue the tradition of honoring late great liberal Minnesota senators.

Isn't it amazing how the far left and the far right were able to come together on just one issue during the entire legislative session (hell, the entire last 20 years) and it was about trying to deny people the enjoyment of major league baseball.
You had the grouchy cheapskates on the right and the sanctimonious jerks on the left...in agreement for once about something.
A referendum on this issue was idiocy because the group of people interested in helping the Twins goes far beyond Hennepin County and even the Twin Cities metro area. It was an issue that should be decided by elected representatives who in theory should be able to step back and look at the big picture. They did their jobs. And I think they did them properly. So quit bitching and whining and get back to doing what you do best. Oops, I guess bitching and whining is what you do best.

- No More Paying to Enter Public Parks Stadium
- Expanded Museums Stadium
- Clean Water/Air/Soil Park
- Better Environment Stadium
- Repaired Roads Field
- Lower Teenage Birthrate Park
I'm sure there are plenty more to add to this pile. In short, I think the name should reflect the priorities our state legislature and governor should have focused on.

"Carlson Park" (After a Republican governor who believed in education, civil rights and traditional fiscal responsibility)
