CITY PAGES BLOGS AND NEWS

J*DaVeY, Paul Simon, and Secret Machines are just a few of the acts performing tonight. Check out Chuck Terhark's City Planner at Culture To Go for a complete itinerary.

We remember Flintstones animator Ed Benedict at Corpus Obscura.

THESE DAYS

Wisconsin secretary of state candidate Sandy Sullivan, a 65-year-old Republican with no political experience, self-published a gushing memoir in 2004 titled "Green Bay Love Stories and Other Affairs" in which she claims she was the girlfriend of Green Bay Packers Paul Hornung and Dan Currie.

Ottawa County, Michigan, will pay about $40,000 to correct an embarrassing typographical error on its Nov. 7 election ballot that had "public" rendered as "pubic."

For the next three seasons, Chicago White Sox home games will start at 7:11 p.m., thanks to $500,000 per year from convenience store giant 7-Eleven. [via Freakonomics blog]

FREEDOM OF SPEECH

"You might be extremely qualified, but if your life isn't squeaky clean, you can't be president. If you applied the same moral standards to most of the presidents we've had, they wouldn't even be nominated."

— Actor/comedian Robin Williams, discussing politics on the eve of the opening of Barry Levinson's satire Man of the Year
