On October 27 at approximately 3:30 p.m., Amberly Lynn Young was shopping at the Lakeville SuperTarget. According to a criminal complaint filed in Dakota County District Court, the 20-year-old spotted a flat-screen, plasma television that she deemed "cute." Young then purportedly placed the TV, along with a Playstation 2 and two video games in her cart and exited the store without paying. When a store employee approached her outside of the store, Young sprayed the worker with mace. The cost of the items that she attempted to purloin was $652.76. It was later determined, according to the criminal complaint, that Young had previously stolen $600 in merchandise from the same SuperTarget, as well as $210.44 in goods from a neighboring store. She has been charged with one count each of theft and fifth-degree assault.
