cPod, Episode 1

Welcome to our humble debut episode of cPod - wherein we ask our reporters and editors to talk about the stories they've written for the current issue. Check back each week for a new update and for a bit of an inside listen to the voices behind your favorite bylines.

I'm with Aaron Landry: until I can subscribe to this, and until it's something more than a teaser, I'm not particularly interested... it's sad when "alternative" media can't keep up with the technology of NPR, and sadder when it comes to their advertising abilities!

Appreciate your feedback, Brian. It might have been helpful if we'd made it more clear that we were "testing the waters" as far as our capability to produce a weekly podcast (perhaps calling it a beta release, as has been suggested elsewhere), and didn't intend our early efforts to blow anyone out of the water.

However, we are excited about the potential to do more, and have been taking the criticism constructively - hopefully by next week we'll have most of the audio quality issues worked out, for instance. Unfortunately it may be a while before we can provide a streamlined, Web 2.0 player, but we've got plans to improve what we can, including having the reporters/editors tell us something more interesting about their article or the process of writing it; in other words, have the cast not just be an audio summary for the issue.

Hope you'll check back next week as we work to improve on cPod.
