The same places are entered into our interactive map as well, so you can save it to your Google Maps if you use that feature.
Also, artist Kevin Cannon has a detailed post explaining his thought and creative processes, taking you through the production of the Rock Atlas.

Is there some reason you didn't put The Fine Line on this?

God Bless Local Treasure Kevin Cannon.

Why is the Fine Line not included in the Twin Cities Atlas? They put on better, higher level local shows then the 400 bar, turf club, etc and pull more national acts then the Varsity... What gives?

This is a really cool thing but, Hmmm, why no Fine Line? I find it strange that a club that just celebrated their 20th anniversary wouldn't be included in your list... is their a secret agenda I'm not privy to?

Using the miracle of Internet technology, I'll add the Fine Line to the interactive map presently.

Except that everyone knows that the Fine Line sucks as a music venue..

Looks nice-good effort, but surprising there is no Nomad on the West Bank-they have a very active live music calendar and even before the new ownership it was the 5 Corners, a key venue on the West Bank.

Scholtes responds (belatedly) to KK and others:
I wrote an early draft of this months ago, when I still worked at City Pages, and even then we had to cut a number of items from this map to make it fit, and would have cut the Church if we'd known it would be torn down by the time the map came out. With the Fine Line, I absolutely love the club, have many great memories there, and consider it "legendary" for a number of reasons. But the original phrase we were going with was "MN music landmarks," and even the Fine Line before its refurbishment hadn't quite been around long enough to be a "landmark," at least in the architectural or historical sense, or at least as much of a landmark as other clubs. Same with the Rock and other good clubs excluded from this map: The Times and Dakota were both left out because they relocated to newer spots. Inevitably, these things are subjective and subject to whim--I think the Nomad is definitely a landmark, and for one reason or another ended up leaving it out (probably because its new incarnation is still relatively new). Anyway, apologies to all the good clubs and businesses not on here.
