Web Extras: Best Of the Twin Cities interactive map
Filed under: City Pages
Our biggest Best Of the Twin Cities issue yet is live online, and will be making its way around town in perfect-bound format all day.
But why wait to see where the hottest spots in Minneapolis and St. Paul are, when you can check out an interactive map?
You can view our Google Map of the Best Of the Twin Cities below.
Every entry we could map, we did. For the other, non-geographically tied entries, you'll have to pick up the Dead Tree edition. We were afraid to Google Map the houses of every private citizen we lauded. Also, we didn't want to give C.J. even more to write about.
Also see: the photo slideshow and the top ten reasons we were late getting this issue online.

How is it Robert Weisberg did not win Best Local Boy Gone Bad? In the last two years he 1) killed all the Shinders stores, 2) killed his porn store AOS, 3) lost his law license, 4) lost his law firm, 5) was arrested for possessing drugs and weapons and is still facing criminal charges, 6) had a few warrants for his arrest for not showing up in court, 7) was the center of one of the super coolest Buzz blogs on the Strib that I've ever seen and 8) and who even knows what else.
Just curious.

That's awesome.

that was all in the last year. Don't forget the digital scale, folding stock assault rifle and police scanner when he was pulled over. Also the bank takeover of shinders all the evictions and foreclosure of the warehouse. Speaking of warehouse: "ghost code" anyone? Wait... The second arrest in a van with a sawed off shotgun! Yeah, and the pirate patch! Ahoy matey!
Cmon CityPages, your article was The Spectacular Meth Fueled Collapse of Shinders. We want a recount of the vote.

Question about the Best Self Promoter...
Do you think there were still bodies in the water when the sheriff shot that video?
Judging by the background, my guess is yes.

Why would readers choose Al Franken for best politician? He's a fuicking comedian who happens to be running for the Senate, not a politician.

Mary Lucia, y'all? Really?
...I don't feel that I know you anymore.

re: google mapping of botc...great idea, but can you make the pinpoint blurb space *smaller* than the actual map size? Can't read the whole blurb, and can't navigate on the map then...
Oh, I see... when I click on your link, I go to google's presentation and the pinpoint blurb is smaller than the footprint of the map. Maybe you can't control on this page, I guess. neveryoumind.

Once again, CP gets it right - kind of. Liquor Lyle's extended their Happy Hour prior to the imposition of Minneapolis' version of social engineering (better known as the Smoking Ban); for the past 2-3 years Happy Hour @ Lyle's has been 10AM - 6PM, and 9PM - 11PM. CP staff dropped the ball (once again) by not verifying the hours, although probably 50% of the residents of Uptown could have answered the question. The old hours are on a Fucci mural next to the front door; given the Fucci association, the mural might not get corrected any time soon. Ten hours of Happy Hour daily should make it the longest in the Cities, trumping even those on the 394 strip.
