Wolf pups meet new pack

Categories: Animals

The wolf puppies whose transfer we documented in photos and video are growing -- and just this morning have been dropped into a new family.

Now named Aidan and Denali were successfully introduced this morning to the adult wolf pack in Ely (Despite my best efforts, I wasn't able to convince the Internet-voting public to name either one of the pups "Jeff"). As part of the pack, the duo will serve as "wolf ambassadors" to a public hungry to learn about the enigmatic animals.

The two gray wolf pups were born on April 27 at the Wildlife Science Center in Forest Lake.

At birth, Aidan weighed 3.4 pounds with Denali tipping the scales at 3.8 pound. They're now 38 and 41 pounds respectively. Curator Lori Schmidt said the public is invited to "watch the fascinating transformation of Aidan and Denali from pups to predators."
