Kitten Justice: St. Paul man sent to the workhouse for hurling feline

I bet when Scott Michael Turner hurled his neighbor's kitten against the wall last May after fighting with his girlfriend, he didn't think he would go to jail.

But, the Associated Press reports that the 29-year-old St. Paul man will serve seven months behind bars.

Karma is a bitch.

Judge Margaret Marrinan sentenced Turner to 15 months in prison but stayed that sentence as long as he remains on good behavior when he is out of jail. ...Turner also is banned from having pets during a four-year probation, and must stay away from drugs and alcohol, undergo anger-management treatment and make restitution to the kitten's owner.

Turner was convicted of felony animal cruelty. The cat was injured so badly it had to be euthanized. During the trial Turner maintained that the cat had fallen off his shoulder and that he accidentally stepped on it. A plausible excuse seeing how mosts cats are calm enough to stay on someone's shoulders during a shouting match.
