10/24 Week in Review: Bachmann insanity!

We hope you noticed that Blotter is being updated all day during the week, which can be tough to keep up with. In case you weren't reading religiously (shame on you), here is a rundown of the stories you can't live without knowing.

Rep. Michele Bachmann has owned the news this week. And not in a good way. It all started with her comments on MSNBC's Hardball last Friday when she said: "I’m very concerned that he (Obama) may have anti-American views" and "I wish the American media would take a great look at the views of the people in Congress and find out, are they pro-America or anti-America? We highlighted some of Bachmann's lowlights for those who are unfamiliar with the insanity. After his endorsement of Obama for president, Colin Powell even addressed our state embarrassment. Even Gov. Sarah Palin pushed her away!

The Democrats in the delegation made it clear they weren't going to play it "Minnesota Nice" and came out against Bachmann's statements.

The money started flooding to her opponent, a kind old hobbit by the name of Elwyn Tinklenberg. He's received more than $1 million since Friday. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee also chipped in $1 million in ads against Bachmann.

When the clip exploded on YouTube, Bachmann began to spin her comments. And kept spinning us dizzy while some conservatives rallied by her side. Of course the Dems couldn't hold back on the opportunity to get more money. And then we puked. For the first time, Tinklenberg came ahead in the polls, but the race is still a dead heat.

Tom Petters and the alleged Ponzi scheme continued to make news this week as the company and Petters' defense slowly crumbles. His company's building is up for sale and his attorneys are hoping to get him released. Doubt it, after reading the transcript from a conversation he had hours before being taken into custody. His associate Larry Reynolds pleaded guilty.

In more juicy Republican gossip, the country was just plain giddy talking about Palin's $150,000 wardrobe, $75,000 of which was bought the the Minneapolis Neiman Marcus. Turns out Coleman's buddy Jeff Larson bought them.
