Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Sebastian Telfair has been suspended without pay for three games for pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon, in violation of the laws of the State of New York, the NBA announced today. Telfair was sentenced last month to three years' probation for misdemeanor possession of a loaded .45-caliber handgun, speeding and driving without a license

Telfair will be suspended for the first three games of the upcoming regular season, according to the Pioneer Press.

According to the Washington Post:

The 21-year-old guard was arrested in April 2007 in Yonkers, N.Y. Police said he was speeding and found a loaded handgun under a seat in his SUV. Telfair did not have a valid license, and police said he and his passenger told them they knew nothing of the gun.

Telfair was a member of the Boston Celtics when the incident occurred.

Telfair had another incident with police in 2006:

While with Portland in February 2006, Telfair was questioned after a handgun registered to his girlfriend was found in his pillowcase aboard the team's plane at Hanscom Field in Bedford, outside of Boston. The Trail Blazers later fined Telfair and suspended him for two days.
