U of M students: don't go skipping class on Election Day

Categories: Elections

ballotbox1.gifGiven the unprecedented turnout at the Minnesota caucuses this winter, it’s pretty much a given that the general election will see droves of youngish, first-time voters swarm the polls. But a word of fair warning to U of M students: you’re still required to show up for class.

The university’s “Makeup Work for Legitimate Absences” policy doesn’t include voting in national elections.

Students are also expected to show up to class the following day (Guy Fawkes Day) despite the savage hangovers they’ll no doubt be enduring, thanks to the previous night’s a) celebratory imbibing or b) the drinking away of electoral sorrows. So remember, remember the Fifth of November. Or something.
