Bachmann correlates cheap gas prices with open oil leases

Rep. Michele Bachmann wants us to think we can get instant relief in gas prices through legislation, but we aren't so easily fooled. Once again, Bachmann correlated the Oct. 1 opening of offshore and oil shale exploration with the quick decline in gas prices. Unfortunately it has more to do with the country's, and the world's, tumbling and terrible economy.

When President Bush ended the executive moratorium on off-shore oil and gas leasing, it paved the way to accessing these resources. Allowing the Congressional moratorium on offshore and shale exploration to lapse on October 1 was the final step to unlocking these vital energy reserves. But just when gas prices have become affordable, Democrat leaders are about to lock up our energy resources once again, this time possibly even tighter.

This isn't the first time she's said this. She can't seem to get over it.

She starts this argument with the following:

Over the weekend, Obama's Transition Team Co-Chair John Podesta said on Fox News Sunday, "There is a lot that the President can do using his executive authority without waiting for congressional action, and I think we will see the President do that."

Maybe we are reading this wrong, but isn't Podesta warning that Bush could try to make some final moves before leaving office without congressional action? And isn't Bachmann arguing that Obama is going to close oil exploration? That just doesn't make sense.
