People still love Cities 97 CDs?
Every year people continue to sit out in the frigid temps for a Cities 97 Sampler, we start wondering how crazy Minnesotans really are. But it WAS the 20th anniversary edition!!!
The CD went on sale this morning and yes, people still waited in line for hours before Target stores opened. Target sold out of the CD in three hours, KSTP says.

At the Edina Target, people began gathering outside at 1 a.m.Only 35,000 copies of the double CD were produced and they were sold out in a mere three hours.
Each person was allowed only two copies of the CD, which cost $29.97 each.
The good thing: The proceeds go to several Minnesota charities. But seriously, have these people ever heard of CD burning? It's this really popular way of sharing music (illegally).

eBay currently (4:45 pm 11/20/08) has 56 entries for 'Cities 97 CD 20'. The first listing has a 'Buy-it-Now' price reasonably set at $99.99 (with free shipping!)

Honestly listen to what you are hearing on both cds and notice you are slowly losing your will to live. Anyone who enjoys this style of music is either souless or joyless.

I've heard a few of the songs off this CD, and I won't even waste the couple of minutes it takes to steal it off the internet.
The first Cities 97 CD sampler was pretty good. How they managed to build this into a 20 legacy is utterly beyond me.

Yes, this 20th anniversary edition is pretty bland but there are quite a few tracks that I enjoy. I will freely admit that I borrowed this 2 cd set from a co-worker and burned it. What bothers me is that Cities 97 used to be a pretty cool radio station in the '90s, now it isn't so much any more. It is just another corporate shill for Clear Channel.
