Senator Jokester?

Categories: Politics

With the race still a dead tie after midnight, in a speech congratulating Barack Obama's election, Al Franken couldn't help making a joke, despite the fact he spent most of his campaign trying to convince voters he wasn't just a comedian.

Laughing about the tight race, Franken told his supporters that tonight, err, tomorrow morning, err maybe late tomorrow afternoon, he too would claim victory.

At 1:30 a.m. incumbent Senator Norm Coleman was up by some 10,000 votes with 90 percent of the districts reporting. It's going to be a long night.
