Denny Hecker sued by local bank after defaulting on loan

Categories: Business
More bad news for our favorite car salesman, Denny Hecker. Community National Bank filed suit against him, claiming he defaulted on a $1.1 million loan.

The lawsuit comes the same week that Hecker's Advantage Rent A Car company said it was filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy and shutting down 21 locations. Last month, his Automotive Group announced the closings of six local dealerships.

And last week, Hecker was hospitalized after crashing his car. He was released on Friday, but details on the cause of the crash weren't available as police investigate.

More from the Pioneer Press:
In the lawsuit, filed Thursday in Ramsey County District Court, the Lino Lakes bank alleges Hecker failed to make basic payments and was in default to the tune of nearly $161,000. The loan, issued in the form of a promissory note in November 2006, was due to be fully repaid Dec. 1.
Hecker spokesman Jon Austin declined to comment on the suit.
And Community National Bank has not been without its own troubles.
Community National and two of its owners -- Bill and Ross Sandison -- have been the subject of lawsuits and a federal investigation, mostly in connection with their role in financing the $1.3 billion Ramsey Town Center project, which sits unfinished and mostly vacant. No one has been criminally charged.
Could things get any worse for this guy? Should we have seen this coming?
