CHIPPEWA FALLS -- A teen in Chippewa Falls is accused of showing classmates cell-phone pictures of nude females, including photos of his ex-girlfriend. Prosecutors say Joel D. Kolb, 17, had 19 pictures of nude or partially nude females on his phone.
Sexual assault in UW system a problem. Drinking involved, perhaps?
MADISON -- One University of Wisconsin System regent said today she was "terribly disturbed" by a survey that found a high rate of sexual assault on and off campuses that mostly goes unreported. The voluntary survey conducted by Rankin & Associates asked more than 13,000 students, faculty and staff at four universities and 13 two-year colleges questions about their academic and work environments. More than 285 of them, mostly female students, said they had been sexually assaulted but a majority never reported the attacks to police or school authorities.
Man accused of scamming a mentally disabled woman
BURLINGTON -- A Burlington man accused of preying on a mentally disabled woman has been charged with hate crimes. Authorities say he called the woman, pretending to be a psychic who would put her in touch with her deceased father. The 'psychic' said he needed money in order for the woman to talk to her dead father.

SHEBOYGAN - A dog weighing more than 120 pounds survived being frozen to a sidewalk overnight, probably because he was insulated by layers of fat, authorities said. The "morbidly obese" dog, an aging border collie mix named Jiffy, froze to the sidewalk when he was left out overnight Wednesday, the Sheboygan County Humane Society said. Few dogs could survive the single-digit temperatures, and it was probably the fat that made the difference, shelter manager Carey Payne said.
