OSHKOSH -- A one-day trial to determine the sanity of a Neenah woman who suffocated her 2-year-old son will be held Tuesday. A criminal complaint says the woman told police she heard voices telling her to "give her only son" just before she suffocated the child in their Neenah home May 5.

SHEBOYGAN -- A Sheboygan woman whose dog froze to the sidewalk while left outside in single-digit temperatures has pleaded not guilty to intentionally mistreating animals. 

Wisconsin used 8,859 monkeys for experiments in 2007, a 44% increase over the year before. 

APPLETON -- An Appleton man fed up with political phone calls from the Republican Party in October is due in court next week on charges of pushing a disabled campaign volunteer. Prosecutors say the 57-year-old entered the Appleton headquarters of the Republican Party on Oct. 27 and yelled at the only person there, a 60-year-old woman. The criminal complaint says Porter was upset about numerous phone calls to his house. 

CHIPPEWA FALLS -- Former Chippewa Falls Senior High School music teacher Andrei Strizek, who resigned one month ago, reportedly learned of two separate inappropriate sexual acts among teenage boys while on band trips in October but didn't report the incidents to administration. Strizek then began sending repeated text messages to a boy, telling him he would be interested in participating in sex if the boy were older.
