Best Buy expected to lay off more HQ employees next month

More bad news for Minnesota business. Best Buy officials say they will be laying off employees at their Richfield headquarters on Feb. 19. The layoffs will be in addition to the 500 buyouts employees took this month, according to the Pioneer Press.

The company headquarters currently employs 4,000 people.

The number of layoffs has not been determined, said Susan Busch, a Best Buy spokeswoman. 
They will be on top of the 13 percent workforce reduction at corporate headquarters after the buyouts. Employees were notified of the pending layoffs by email today. The average non-managerial employee who is laid off will receive six months pay plus health and dental benefits and life insurance for 12 months, Busch said.
