'New in Town' so bad Minn. should file defamation suit, says USA Today

We've read scathing movie reviews before, but this one takes the top prize in recent flick flops. Ouch.

USA Today hated 'New in Town' so much they thought it might inspire "the entire state to file a class-action defamation suit". That's a seriously bad movie if you ask us.

The movie, set in "middle of nowhere" New Ulm, Minn., is a fluffy protrayal of naive Renee Zellweger who comes to the small town from Miami. She somehow forgets a coat despite coming to Minnesota in the dead of winter and encounters a lot of classic small town idiots.

It's insulting, stereotypical and embarrassing, the review says. Perhaps the worst movie ever.

But it's just a rom com! Give it a break. Yea right, says USA Today.
To say that New in Town is the worst movie of this fledgling year is to damn it with faint praise. It may be one of the worst movies of any year. Not content to be merely inane and predictable, it is downright insulting, humorlessly deriding those who choose to live in rural America, labor in factories or have a strong Christian faith. It treats this giant swath of Americans as foolish, if lovable, buffoons, essentially insulting viewers by making the audience unwitting co-conspirators simply by watching this dreck.
It follows a particularly abhorrent Hollywood formula: Ridicule the friendly, rural folks, show how stupid they are, then by the end, place their small-town values and inherent decency on a pedestal.
Where the Coen brothers' darkly droll 1996 Fargo disarmingly mocked residents in and around Minnesota, New in Town may inspire the entire state to file a class-action defamation suit. Beyond the indignities it heaps on rural Minnesotans, there's the matter of its glaring lack of humor and originality.
If you still aren't convinced that paying to see this movie is like throwing you money in a trash chute, read the rest of the review here

And remember that this terrible movie wasn't even filmed in Minnesota. We get no love whatsoever.
