Best Buy launches national electronics recycling program

Minnesotans have been taking advantage of Best Buy's recycling program since June, but the electronics super giant is debuting the program at all of its 1,006 U.S. stores, according to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal.

Consumers can drop off two units per day, per household at any Best Buy location for recycling.

Here is what the Best Buy stores will accept: Most consumer electronics, including televisions and monitors up to 32 inches, desktop and notebook computers, small electronics, VCRs, DVD players and phones, and accessories.

Don't bring the following items in: televisions or monitors larger than 32 inches; console televisions; items that contain Freon, including air conditioners, dehumidifiers and mini refrigerators; microwaves; and large appliances.

Here's the catch: Best Buy charges $10 for any item with screens (TVs, laptops, monitors). You will receive a $10 Best Buy gift card in exchange.
