Bullet train to Chicago might be back on track

Thursday's five most fascinating stories printed on wood pulp:

Bring on the high-speed rail
President Obama's $787 billion stimulus package has a small portion of money set aside that might jump start plans once again for a high-speed rail connection between St. Paul and Chicago. There's an $8 billion section of the bill to expand the nation's rail system. The train would get people from St. Paul to Chicago in 5-and-a-half hours. Count us in, unless prices will still be more expensive than the cheap airfare we will soon see at MSP.

Removal of Muslim imams from plane wasn't discrimination, DOT says
The U.S. Department of Transportation says U.S. Airways didn't discriminate against six Muslim imams when airline employees kicked them off a flight in Minneapolis in 2006.

Screw the bad economy, build our stadium
This is ridiculous. The Minnesota Vikings are still pressuring the state legislature in hopes of getting their stadium built in tough economic times. Now they just look stupid. If they end up succeeding, our state is officially crumbling. Essential government services or football?

Doc suspended for alleged sex with patient
This is weird: A Duluth physician's Minnesota medical license has been suspended after he admitted to engaging in "bizarre behavior" last July. That's descriptive.

Edina hates bikes, loves parking spots
Leave it to Edina to be anti-bike. Residents are pissed about potential bike lanes on their road that would take away parking spots. They have a reason to be pissed though because the city council didn't take the advice of a recommendation to eliminate the bike lane.
