The plight of the Timberwolves looks gloomy. The AP recently reported that our favorite player, Al Jefferson, whom Jonathan Kaminsky profiled in 2008 story "Minnesota's Franchise 2.0" went down against the New Orleans Hornets. Wolves fans... it's time to get drunk. This one hurts.

Here are the details from the AP, via ESPN:

The team made the announcement Monday after a somber practice. Coach Kevin McHale said Jefferson will likely have surgery to repair the injury in the next week to 10 days.

Jefferson hurt his knee when he landed awkwardly late in Sunday's 101-97 loss to New Orleans. He was examined Monday, when the anterior cruciate ligament tear was discovered.

Now, it seems like the recent article penned by Matt Snyders, "Twenty Years of Timberwolves" which ended with a bright note, just went flat. The Wolves get no love from above. CP and most every Wolves fan wishes big Al a fast recovery.
