U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton called for the release of a North Dakota journalist and Minnesota college graduate being held in Iran.

Roxana Saberi grew up in Fargo and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead. She hasn't been heard from since Feb. 10 when she called her father in Fargo to tell him she was detained in Iran.

Klobuchar wrote a letter to the United Nations earlier this week asking for their involvement in the case. Saberi has lived in Iran for six years as a reporter for National Public Radio, the BBC, and other news organizations.

More from the Associated Press:
Clinton was asked at a news conference today what the U.S. government was doing to secure the release of 31-year-old freelance journalist Roxana Saberi.

Clinton said she was concerned about Saberi, and that the State Department is working through Swiss authorities to request information from Tehran. They are seeking information on Saberi's well-being, whereabouts and what Clinton described as the charges made in her confinement.

Clinton said the only acceptable outcome was for Saberi's release and return to her family in North Dakota.
