Former Ward 2 candidate supporters call for criminal charges

After a Minnesota Daily investigation revealed a Ward 2 candidate's campaign was based almost entirely on lies, his duped supporters and volunteers are calling him a fraud and want to see criminal charges filed against him.
Charles Carlson admitted to a series of lies after being questioned by the Daily. He had claimed he was born in England, talked in a British accent and said he had shared a dessert with Hillary Clinton.
KSTP interview Carlson about the lies and also spoke to one of his supporters. A donor has submitted a letter to Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman asking him to investigate Carlson for possible criminal charges. Carlson dropped out of the race this week, claiming he is dealing with mental health issues.
