During pre-trial hearings Wednesday, Minnesota businessman Tom Petters appeared in court. His attorneys say he is being treated unfairly in jail and not given the same freedom as others in the clinker.

Give this guy a break! It's not like he is accused of a $3.5 billion Ponzi scheme that destroyed the lives of many. Innocent until proven guilty though.

WCCO's Esme Murphy blogged about the hearings, describing Petters and his supporters.
Tom Petters looked remarkably well Wednesday, dressed in a grey charcoal suit looking exactly as he did as he sat on top of the Twin Cities business world just a few short months ago. In court to show their support, two of Petters' brothers and Petters' glamorous girlfriend Tracy Mixon.
Attorneys said his life as an inmate isn't fair.
He must wear shackles even when he meets with his attorneys at the Sherburne County Jail. He is not allowed to receive Communion. His attorneys are arguing that he is receiving harsher treatment than other inmates.
His attorneys also say he receives less exercise time. We're not sure we feel that compelled to speak out about those injustices. Next.
