It seems like we were just completely consumed by politics and we're starting all over again. This time it's at a much smaller level with offices in city government up for grabs.

Minneapolis DFLers will hold their city caucuses tonight at 7 p.m. to select delegates for ward-level endorsing conventions. Those will be between March 14 and April 25 followed by a city convention May 16.

So go get your caucus on! Wondering where to go or who has a stake in the meetings? We've got details below.

To find your caucus location, visit the DFL site. All meetings start at 7 p.m.

So why all the hubbub about DFLers? They all but two of the 25 elected city government seats in Minneapolis, says the Star Tribune. The Green exceptions: Second Ward Council Member Cam Gordon and Park Commissioner Annie Young.

The caucuses tonight allow you to help elect delegates that attend ward conventions. Those conventions endorse City Council members. Find out more about the endorsement process here.

What candidates have something at stake? Mayor R.T. Rybak is running for reelection, but hasn't been endorsed in prior elections. Bob Miller, the director of the Neighborhood Revitalization Program is challenging Rybak.

The First and 10th Wards  have no incumbents, with four candidates in the First and three in the 10th, says the Strib. Incumbents Gary Schiff and Sandra Colvin Roy also have challengers for the DFL endorsement. Schiff also has at least one Green challenger.

What about the other political parties? The Greens won't hold caucuses, but have a citywide convention May 9 at North Regional Library, 1315 Lowry Av. N. Republicans haven't elected a party-endorsed candidate for city office since 1997. They will consider endorsements after the candidate filing period in July.

The Independence Party will use a online participation and March 28 caucuses to determine its platform, with the caucus selecting delegates to an endorsing convention in mid-May.
