Who be da man? Now Michael Steele is asserting his manhood.

We've all been having a lot of fun over Michele Bachmann's bizarre ebonics episode, in which she told African American RNC Leader Michael Steele: "You be da man! You be da man!"

But in a very real way, she was answering a core question for the GOP, one which exploded into the national consciousness today in the war of words between Rush Limbaugh and Michael Steele. For today's GOP: Who be da man?

In this YouTube clip, Michael Steele is clearly arguing that he be the man, except he rephrases "da man" as, "the defacto leader of the Republican party."

Rush Limbaugh fires back on his radio show this afternoon, saying, "You be not da man, because you don't want Obama to fail, and da man would want Obama to fail":

So the question for Republicans remains: Who be da man? Michele Bachmann knows where her bread is buttered:
