McKnight Foundation seeks nominations for community service award

We all know that large corporations love to cheer themselves on for giving back to the community and supporting local causes. That's all well and good. What about the people who donate their time, love, and energy without the expectation of publicity or anything else in return? Now's your chance to show them the recognition they deserve.
Each year the McKnight Foundation awards $10,000 for up to six individuals who serve the local community in positive ways, be it through an organization or through working directly with people. Specifically, candidates should strive to unite people with productive, progressive, and positive goals, empower individuals, as well as be active in the programs and services they give their time to.We all know that large corporations love to cheer themselves on for giving back to the community and supporting local causes. Past winners of the Virginia McKnight Binger Awards in Human Service are varied, and include a former-gang member who now mentors at-risk youth, two sisters who educate on nutrition, a program provider for the Twin Cities immigrant community, and an individual who advocates for the homeless population.
