Bachmann to get constituents 'armed and dangerous' Thursday

Rep. Michele Bachmann announced public forums last month to help get her constituents "armed and dangerous" on the issue of cap and trade policies.

Well tomorrow is your chance to be "armed with knowledge". Get yourself to these forums and at least you'll know what you're fighting against. And they'll be people protesting it, which makes it even more fun.

Campus Progress says more than 60 students from St. Cloud-area colleges and universities will attend Bachmann's forum to give attendees the other side of the cap and trade issue. The forum's speaker, Chris Horner, has called global warming just "hype". The students will provide the audience with information on global warming.

Bachmann wrote an editorial for the Star Tribune Tuesday explaining her position against Obama's cap and trade proposal. She makes the point that his proposal would cost every household more than $3,000 in energy costs every year.

All's good until the study's author says that fact is completely wrong and misrepresented.

Here is what MIT professor John Reilly said in response to House Minority Leader John Boehner's use of the same fact:
The press release claims our report estimates an average cost per family of a carbon cap and trade program that would meet targets now being discussed in Congress to be over $3,000, but that is nearly 10 times the correct estimate which is approximately $340.
Details on the forums:
Thursday, April 9, 2009
1:00-2:15 pm
St. Cloud State University
Atwood Memorial Center, Cascade Room

4:30-5:45 pm
Woodbury Central Park Community Center, Room B
8595 Central Park Place (off Valley Creek Road and Radio Drive)

The forum will feature Chris Horner, a senior fellow and author from the Competitive Enterprise Institute. No word yet if Bachmann will make an appearance or take questions from constituents.
