Norm Coleman's legal team will officially file their appeal to the Minnesota Supreme Court this afternoon. Coleman's lawyers are trying to overturn the three-judge panel's decision last week that ruled Al Franken the winner by 312 votes.

Coleman's main appeal argument focuses on local officials using different standards to decide which absentee votes were valid. He says that violates equal protection. Oral arguments could start in two weeks to two months, but the court is not required to schedule them.

Franken's team will respond at 4:45 pm CT / 5:45 pm ET. Listen live below with The Uptake stream.
