Former Vice President Walter Mondale will join a New Yorker magazine staff writer Tuesday for a talk at the University of Minnesota about terrorism and the recently released torture memos.

New Yorker writer Jane Mayer writes about political issues and recently published her book titled "The Dark Side: The Inside Story of How the War on Terror Turned into the War on American Ideals." The book details the Bush administration's decisions on terrorism policies after 9/11.

More details on the event below.

Mondale made comments on the memos, which the Minnesota Daily published:
On Monday, Mondale compared the memos, which included justification for interrogation techniques such as waterboarding, to a, "how-to-do-it" manual.

"There's kind of a detached, cold-bloodedness to those legal opinions," he said. "I think it's important to have these out in the public record," he said.
