Medical marijuana bill passes Minn. Senate

The Minnesota Senate approved a state medical marijuana bill with a 36-28 vote. The legislation now heads to the state House before hitting Gov. Tim Pawlenty's desk for a likely veto.

Can someone sway Pawlenty's vote or is medical marijuana too risky for a man with his sights set high? Har har.

The bill allows patients with debilitating illnesses, cancer, and AIDS to grow a small amount of marijuana or own up to 2.5 ounces. The bill would also create an ID system and allow some non-profits to dispense the drug. There are 13 states that have similar laws.

The House has yet to take up the issue, and Pawlenty has said he would side with law enforcement groups in opposing the bill, says the Pioneer Press.
