NY-20 could be headed for Minnesota's political hell
Unfortunately the results from last night have Democrat Scott Murphy leading Republican Jim Tedisco by 65 votes out of 154,000 cast. Next up is the absentee ballot count, which currently includes 6,000. Overseas ballots aren't due until April 13.
The ridiculously close results are leading both parties to scramble to both use and abuse the situation in Minnesota for political gain. The poor people in New York will soon be spinning and dizzy from all of the bickering that will likely follow. Republicans are already screaming that they can't let Murphy "pull a Franken".
Give us a break.
Beware, New York! You might be headed into political hell. InDecision puts it best: "This isn't really an election battle. It's the most boring, annoying and interminable piece of existentialist performance art ever produced."
The race is to replace Kirsten Gillibrand who succeeded Clinton in the U.S. Senate seat.
The Pioneer Press notes that the New York GOP are already using scare tactics involving Franken to help raise money for the upcoming absentee ballot count.
NOTE: There is no proof of any "stealing" or fraud in the Minnesota election. No one stole anything in Minnesota's Senate race and if they did, prove it before you spew this false claim.
Here is the fundraising email sent to supporters from the National Republican Congressional Committee:
I just stepped out of a political meeting...
Don't let the Democrats steal this election. Less than 80 ballots separate Republican Jim Tedisco and his Democrat opponent. We cannot afford to allow the Democrats to steal this election.
We need your support to ensure we can overcome the Democrats' legal maneuvers. Democrats have almost succeeded in stealing the election in Minnesota and seating Al Franken. We cannot allow them to manipulate electoral results to seat another tax-troubled liberal.
We need your support to make sure the will of the residents of New York's 20th district prevails in the final outcome. Please contribute today and together we can ensure a fair and accurate count of the remaining ballots.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Guy Harrison,
Executive Director
P.S. Democrats will do whatever they can to hold this seat. Do not allow them to steal this election. Please contribute $25, $50, $100 or more NOW so we can ensure a fair and accurate election.
The GOP are scrambling to pull off a win in this election and trying to ensure that similar problems don't come up in their race.
More from NewsMax:
New York Republicans Tuesday slapped the state's Election Board with a wide-ranging injunction to prevent Minnesota-style snafus seen in the Al Franken-Norm Coleman race from disrupting the hard-fought 20th congressional district race in upstate New York.
The 28-page order issued Tuesday by New York state Supreme Court Judge James V. Brands of the County of Dutchess impounds voting machines, ballots, ballot envelopes, and restricts the counting of absentee ballots to central locations rather than precincts.
One state election official tells Newsmax that Greene county election officials had planned to permit each precinct in the county to determine which absentee ballots should be opened and counted on Tuesday evening. That may have triggered the state GOP injunction.
The impound order requires that each county establish a central location where all absentee ballots will be counted. Moreover, all parties involved, including the campaigns, must be notified in advance of the opening and counting of absentee ballots. Sources tell Newsmax most of the 10 counties that comprise the 20th congressional district already follow that practice.
