Bicyclist killed in downtown Minneapolis
A bicyclist was killed this morning in an accident with a semi tractor in downtown Minneapolis, according to the Pioneer Press. Police arrived at the scene around 7:40 a.m. at 14th Street East and Park Avenue South. The bicyclist was dead by the time police arrived.
According to a Star Tribune brief on the accident, the truck driver turned into the cycling lane on Park Avenue and crushed the biker.
The person's identity has not been released and the Hennepin County medical examiner's office will perform an autopsy.
The accident has closed Park Avenue South at 15th Street East. Fourteenth Street East is also closed from East Grant Street to Park Avenue South, according to the PiPress report. The streets will be closed one to two hours as officials investigate the accident.
