Jesse Ventura battles The View's Hasselbeck, calls waterboarding torture
Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura has found his talking point that's grabbing headlines and getting people talking. As part of his nationwide book promotion tour, Ventura appeared on ABC's The View and got into a heated debate with token-Republican Elisabeth Hasselbeck about the United State's torture policy and the use of waterboarding on suspects.
Let's just say Ventura destroyed Hasselbeck on her own show. He repeated his belief that waterboarding is torture and danced around her defensive arguing like it was a joke.
When Hasselbeck continued to claim that waterboarding was an acceptable method of interrogation, Ventura asked her, "If waterboarding is OK, why can't we let our police do it?" Ventura said we should have used similar methods on the Oklahoma City bombers to ensure all those involved were caught. He then continued: "It only seems we waterboard Muslims."
Ventura made similar comments last week on Larry King Live where he offered to waterboard former Vice President Dick Cheney.
Check out the amazing debate below.

Dammit, why didn't he run for Senator and embarrass Coleman again?
Posted On: Monday, May. 18 2009 @ 2:17PMJesse Ventura is a jerk!! Like most people he doesnt understand the issues, and if they were that simple then why does every president change his position when he starts getting briefings on national security issues. He made himself look bad, and the safety of the military is more complicated then most people realize. He just talked louder as though he has all the answers and was in good company with left wing whoopi and joy all in good company
Posted On: Monday, May. 18 2009 @ 3:02PMThanks nancy for your insightful commentary. Do you understand the issue of simulated drowning? I love how its acceptable in your eyes for the United States to practice brutal torture tactics because us civilians "just don't understand". It sure would be interesting to see what would happen if footage was release of "terrorists" waterboarding US troops.
Thanks again nancy for putting people in office that torture. I feel so safe as an uninformed citizen because of them!
"enhanced interrogation techniques" --what a joke.
Posted On: Monday, May. 18 2009 @ 3:26PMNancy,
Your argument is so without merit, I may just chalk it up to either a)irony or b)sarcasm. By being consistent in his views over the years, Jesse has proven himself to be a better American than torture apologists, not to mention actual torturers.

Okay, so I will say what everyone thinks but is too afraid to say...I am for waterboarding ANYONE, if it makes my family and my country safer. Ventura has a point, we should have used waterboarding on the OKC terrorists; we should use enhanced interrogation on ALL terrorists. If you attack us, and you are not a solider of a state, you are a unlawful enemy combatant, and Geniva does not apply. You all attack what Bush did to protect our country, how would you react if we had more 9/11 type attacks? The administration under Bush did what they thought was best for AMERICA and her citizens, who are all that matter when it comes down to it. I would love to see any of you liberal sissy's make some of the decision's W. had to. P.S. How do you feel about Rendition? Your boy (Obama) supports it.
Posted On: Monday, May. 18 2009 @ 5:46PMHey BigE,
the Geneva Convention has parts that apply only to uniformed soldiers, and also other parts that apply to every human with a heartbeat. The Geneva Convention forbids the torture of ANYONE, not just soldiers. Is that hard for you to understand? Also, you seem every enthusiastic to win the war on terror. Problem is terror is like prostitution, alcohol and gambling. It's going to be here forever. What we can do is try to deal with it intelligently. Part of the problem is that our mideast policy has been immoral and unfair over the last few decades. While we continue to incestuously mix the war on terror together with "US interests", we will have no credibility as honest brokers in world peace.

Big E, as in big idiot? everyone? really? geneva doesn't apply? why should any convention? why don't we, the rest of the world, waterboard every dumberican every time they leave the cave from now on? why should we give a damn? u wanna bend laws n expect the world 2 b just watchin? who do u exactly think u r? if u like water that much, im sure u wouldn't mind a little drowning simulation experienced by urself, or would u?

Posted On: Monday, May. 18 2009 @ 8:52PMElezebeth hasselback used the word "suposably." Enough said.
Posted On: Tuesday, May. 19 2009 @ 8:02AMYou were told that waterboarding "worked"
and accepted it because it was said...
1. WHERE is Bin Laden?
I guess they didn't bother asking during the 180+ sessions.
2.By gosh it worked! We weren't hit again!
AGAIN is the operative word here.
IF the August6 2001
Daily Presidential Briefing memo was read ,
perhaps (just perhaps) we could have stopped the 9/11 terror attacks.

Nancy is confused. The issues are much simpler than the government and the media make them out to be. The reason, to keep the public confused and willing to relinquish their voice to the so-called experts. Don't fall for that con.The time is approaching for you to do your own thinking, to speak YOUR mind, and to "Rock the House."
