Getting laid off doesn't mean you have to stop getting laid. At least that's what Pfizer hopes to accomplish with a new free drug program for loyal customers who recently lost their jobs and can't afford their prescriptions.

Pfizer is offering customers that have had their drug prescriptions for more than three months to get the drugs for free up to one year. You've got to keep your spirits up somehow.

More from the Associated Press:
The world's biggest drugmaker will provide more than 70 of its prescription drugs at no cost to unemployed, uninsured Americans, regardless of their prior income, who lost jobs since Jan. 1 and have been on the Pfizer drug for three months or more.

Officials for New York-based Pfizer said they don't know how much the program will cost and haven't put a cap on spending for it.
To be eligible, applicants must sign a statement that says they are suffering from financial hardship and provide proof of their job loss. People can apply through Dec. 31 and received their medications for up to 12 months or until they become insured again.

Patients who might be eligible now can call Pfizer to sign up: 866-706-2400. On July 1, patients can also apply through the Web site.
