MMA fighter Jessica Bednark rushed to ICU

Now, she lays inside an intensive care unit in a medically induced coma, part of her skull removed, fighting to live.
When [gym owner, Scott Kelm] noticed that her breathing was shallow, he called 911. Bednark's boyfriend, Jay Gould, said that the ambulance then noticed that one pupil was larger than the other, an indication of brain trauma. A catscan indicated a ruptured artery in Jessica's brain. "Whether it came from a vital blow or swelling on the brain, we don't know," Kelm said.Last Fall, CP profiled 4 of the top female fighters in the nation and their struggle to gain acceptance among big time promoters in the combat sports community. We hope the tragic accident does not lead critics to dismiss and/or ban women from the sport. But there is additional news to sour the already bleak reports.
WFighter, a website dedicated to Female MMA, and the first to post the story, noted:
