Even the folks who filled this out indicated that some sections couldn't be known without violating HIPPA, yet we're expected to hand that over to an ACORN volunteer.

While the public officials case is a poor example of protecting privacy (she is a public official, obviously this is going to be easy) the matter of privacy for the average citizen is a very valid point.

Isn't the bigger contention that ACORN folks who have a political bent and a history of being less that trustworthy are going to be involved in collecting these forms if they're not mailed in? Solution: Mail yours in, answer what you wish, pay the $100-$200 penalty if they pursue you, or ignore it indefinitely and let them prove you did.

The purpose of the Census was to determine certain things about the population. My ability to walk, my choice to run a business out of my house, all of these things are not why the census takes place.

Since when did Congress and all of the federal agencies get to start polling the American public fishing for opportunities to sway voters with government assistance programs?

People in Washington D.C. who want to further their careers by making more and more legislation and targeting likely voters are fishing the populace for information that will help them prevail and further their political careers.

If we just accept the intrusion by government on our personal affairs we deserve the endless spending, taxing and stupidity that comes from all of the parties in congress.

Remember, as the census nears, you'll be brow beaten into filling it out because if you don't your district may not get as many dollars as it would if you under report, and of course there is NO potential for corruption there.
