Man accused of killing ex-girlfriend with hammer

Chad Gulbertson, 37, of Albert Lea has been charged with murdering his ex-girlfriend with a hammer. He is charged with second- and third-degree murder.

Gulbertson allegedly went to a police station Sunday and said he "may have" killed his ex-girlfriend Jody Morrow.

Her body was found in her trailer that day.

One of his family members also told police he confessed to them that he did "the stupidest thing". He told the family member he hit Morrow with a hammer and it killed her.

Morrow received a restraining order against him in mid-May, police say.

He said he had gone to her house and admitted they began to argue. Police said he began crying hysterically.

Albert Lea Police Chief Dwaine Winkels said officers found the Morrow's body in her mobile home, bludgeoned to death. She had apparently tumbled from her wheelchair. She appeared to have sustained serious head injuries.
