U of Minn. might cut 1,200 jobs

The board of regents meet today to go over a number of issues, including budget cuts. The U must figure out how to manage a $177 million cut in state funding in the next two years. The cuts would include 200 faculty positions, hopefully through attrition.
The U might also increase tuition as much as 3 percent, which is still considered a minor increase due to the circumstances.
The final Board of Regents vote on the budget will come June 24.
