Sports Illustrated included Eden Prairie High School's athletic program in its national Top 10 high school athletic programs in its latest issue.

Eden Prairie came in at No. 9, after 2008-09 state championships in boys' hockey, girls' lacrosse, and girls' cross country. The No. 1 school, Honolulu Punahou, has completely dominated the state of Hawaii, winning 61 state championships in four years and 19 last year alone.

SI took into consideration state titles and the number of Division I athletes, as well as off-field successes when building the list.

Here's what the magazine said about Eden Prairie:
The Eagles fought off all comers with sticks. In boys hockey, Eden Prairie finished 25-3 and won the state tournament for the first time as the No. 2 seed. In girls lacrosse, they entered s the favorites and beat The Blake School (Hopkins, Minn.) in the final. The ultimate trophy was the school's second straight Challenge Cup -- a statewide, year-long competition among Minnesota's league member schools.
Who is the most famous former student-athlete from the No. 1-ranked school? President Barack Obama.
