We're pretty sure torching other people's property is a real hoot, but police are still searching for a motive in an odd case on one of the notable Minneapolis lakes. Police are looking for two teenage boys who may be responsible for the torching of a sailboat on Lake Harriet early Sunday morning.

Police say one sailboat was set on fire and three others were ransacked, according to the Star Tribune report. The crime happened between 5:30 and 6 a.m. Sunday on the northwest corner of the lake.

More from the Strib:
The boys swam out to the single-mast boats to do the damage, said Police Sgt. Sean McKenna. When they returned to shore, they joined a third boy of similar age. They jumped on their bikes, "and left southbound on bicycles, and they were laughing."

McKenna said the torched 23-foot boat is severely damaged and has yet to be removed from the lake.
Some of the items on the boat, including fire extinguishers, coolers, and life jackets were stolen or thrown in the lake.

If you have any information, contact the arson hotline at 1-800-723-2020. There is a $2,500 reward.
