Third guilty plea in missing Somali investigation

Categories: Somalis
Another man has pleaded guilty in the ongoing investigation into Americans who disappeared and returned to Somalia to fight with a militant group.

Kamal Hassan told a Minneapolis federal judge that he made false statements to agents who were part of the investigation, according to the Associated Press.

Hassan admitted that he originally said he traveled to Yemen after training with al-Shabab. He said Wednesday that he stayed with al-Shabab after training and fought in Somalia. He also said he hid the identities of people he knew in Minnesota and Somalia.

There have been up to 20 men that have gone to Somalia to train and fight. At least three have been killed.
