Bachmann: It's time to 'slit our wrists, be blood brothers' to fight health care reform

In Rep. Michele Bachmann's latest anti-health care reform rant, she came up with yet another money quote we just couldn't let slip by. Because there is really no better way to fight health care reform than to share blood with others. It's a really good idea, folks.

Bachmann spoke to a Denver gathering sponsored by the Independence Institute last night and sure got the crowd pumped up. She claimed the reform proposals "have the strength to destroy this country forever."

"This cannot pass," Bachmann said according to the Colorado Independent report. "What we have to do today is make a covenant, to slit our wrists, be blood brothers on this thing. This will not pass. We will do whatever it takes to make sure this doesn't pass."

Last month, Bachmann held a telephone town hall with abortion opponents and said the health care reform "battle will be won - on our knees in prayer and fasting."

More intelligent discussion and less crazy talk might do our country some good.

Its funny that she talks to all kinds off people except her constituants, guesse finding out the pulse of her district is less impotant than making a fool out of us nationaly.

I thought people in MN were really intelligent. Two of my friends there are professors, and tell me all the time about some of the really smart kids they teach. So how is it that you all re-elected this bag of bat poop? We out-of-staters are very confused. (In the interest of full disclose, I was one of the thousands from outside MN who gave money to the other guy last fall. Even though I'm not from your state, I couldn't have this woman representing anything about America!)

Minnesota is a purple state. Her district happens to be one one of the very red ones. It's very possible she will continue to be re-elected until she opts to leave the office or a viable Republican challenger makes a real run against her in a primary.

Forget labels and partisanship. Regardless of my political preference, I think Bachmann is a poor public official. Patriotism and public service are not about individual self-interest or a political party, and certainly should not be marred by such inflammatory and ignorant statements as Ms. Bachmann is so apt to put forth.

I'd be happier with a more responsible person of any party serving in her place.

I was born in Minnesota and am living there again, after having lived in a lot of other places.

It seems to me that Minnesota has almost always produced incredibly excellent politicians or complete duds -- hardly anything in-between.

I can think of few politicians from any state who are more "dudlier" than Michele Bachmann. I hang my head in shame.

Of course, Indiana gave us Dan Quayle, so we Minnesotans have some competitors for incredible duds.
