Late yesterday, MinnPost's David Brauer broke the news that President Barack Obama was coming to the Twin Cities to give a major healthcare speech.

Speculation immediately turned to the Xcel Center as a possible site. After all, this is where Obama delivered the fist bump and accepted the Democratic nomination, making history.

There's just one problem: The Wild have several important activities planned for the facility, including a ticket sale that involves people camping overnight.

I emailed team spokesman Ryan Stanzel and he said events are on as scheduled:

Wild training camp (we have media day Saturday) and ticket on sale are on as scheduled. Nothing else is scheduled at Xcel Energy Center at this time.

In the mean time, MPR's Tom Scheck independently confirms the Obama visit and seems to offer further suggestion that Xcel might not host it:

Details of the event are still being worked out. An official with St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center said a presidential visit has not been scheduled there.
