Dog missing after fatal car crash was just on quest to find God

​ After a fatal car crash near Medora, N.D., the family's dog disappeared from the scene. Celeste Roper of Lake City, Minn. survived the accident, which killed passenger Jerry Roper, more than a month ago and her family was still praying for their dog to come back.

Well it looks like Ranger, a male springer spaniel, was just on a quest to find God. He turned up Thursday at a bible camp in North Dakota a little disheveled and weak, but still wagging his tail.

We're imagining God pumping his fist as we type this.

The male springer spaniel was a little thin but wagging its tail and looking for some attention Thursday at West Dakota Veterinary Clinic Inc. in Dickinson, where the dog is receiving treatment.

Jerry and Celeste Roper of Lake City, Minn., were heading west on Interstate 94 on Aug. 25 when they were involved in an accident with a truck. Jerry Roper died on the scene and Celeste was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for her injuries and released.

Ranger was in the vehicle during the accident but went missing afterward. Officials had searched and chased down sightings ever since.

Bernard Kordonowy found Ranger at the Badlands Ministries near Medora. The man hadn't heard Ranger's story, but saw his tags on the his collar and called his vet to identify him.

Ranger found the bible camp just in time. Snow, rain and cold temperatures are heading to the area and his chances of survival would have been slim.

And how did the Ropers keep up hope for Ranger's return? They believed he was too stubborn to die. We like this dog already. And apparently their prayers worked.
